Mental & Spiritual Wellness

Living a healthy lifestyle requires so much more than diet and exercise. Not only must we take care of ourselves physically by exercising regularly and consuming nutritious foods; we must also take care of our spiritual and mental health. What we feed our mind, our eyes, our ears, and our hearts affects our mental and emotional well-being, just as diet and exercise can affect our physical state. If we are listening to music that promotes violence, callousness, and sexual pleasures, our spirit could reflect those very same qualities. What we internalize plays a major role in our external realm.  If we want to possess and display positive thoughts, qualities and behaviors , we must retain things that are going to influence them. Our mind can only reflect on what we consume. Our actions are often influenced by what we know. And although both usually determine our behaviors, along with social influence, environmental factors and our ability to regulate emotions; ultimately, we decide what we will allow to resonate with who we are.

Self-care requires us to be intentional about every facet that contributes to our overall well-being; not just those that are acknowledged by the outside world . How we truly feel inside  is what’s most important. That is why our spiritual health is vital. For those of us who are spiritually inclined, it’s so important that we take in the word of God. Our sole purpose of being created is to be a vessel for Christ. How can we be a vessel for God when we are filled with ourselves; filled with what the media promotes and who the world tells us we should be? When we take the time to draw close to our creator, we take the time to analyze the reflection of our souls. We take the time to understand what kind of person we should be and cleanse ourselves from the pollution so prevalent in the air.  It’s the opportunity to find peace as we pass through the storms. It’s the presence of love when you feel like you have nothing left. It’s food for the mind and heart; as water gives life to a flower.

May your cup be so full that you can pour from every vessel 🌹
